What is your VIU student record?
Your VIU student record is the central place for you to manage your official business with the University. Most registration services are available in your VIU student record. You can add or drop courses, update your address or email, see your grades, pay your fees and much more!
Accessing your VIU student record
Log into your VIU student record.
The very first time you access your VIU student record, your password is your date of birth: YYMMDD.
Once you have logged in, you will need to create your own password as well as a security question and answer.
These are important measures taken to protect the privacy of your VIU student record.
Tip: Never use the Back button while in your VIU student record - you may lose your data!
If you come in person to the Registration Centre, we will ask you to present government-issued photo identification. Sometimes you will want one of your parents, your spouse, or maybe a good friend to check something out at the University on your behalf. We understand that, but we also value and protect your privacy. We will not allow anyone to discuss your business with us without your permission.
If you want to authorize someone to make inquiries on your behalf (in person, over the phone, or by email) you must provide them with your student number and the answer to your security question. This security question and answer are created when you first log in to your VIU student record. Without this authorization, we will not be able to discuss your application, registration, fees, class schedule, or any other detail about you or your status at Vancouver Island University.
Helpful hints
Make sure to pick a password and security question/answer that is secure, but that you will remember not just today, but years from now.
If you do give your security answer out, it is good practice to change it afterward.
You may want to write down your password or record it on your phone until you have it and your student number memorized.
