You will be assigned a specific date and time to register for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters. This date will usually be during the latter part of May between 8 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday.
You can register anytime on or after your assigned appointment day and time. It is always a good idea to register as early as possible because classes may fill up quickly. If you do not register at your assigned registration time, you will still be eligible to register right up until the end of the first week of classes.
Even though you are not able to register until after your assigned date and time, as soon as that date has been assigned to you, you can go into your student record and start planning the timetables for your upcoming semesters. The system makes it easy to create a schedule that works for you, and even better - you can save your planned schedule and have the system register FOR you at your assigned date and time!
To begin, log in to your student record, and go to Web Registration on the list of menu choices. Here you can find and select the courses you want and save them well in advance of your registration appointment. Then when your appointment time arrives, you can either log in again and submit all your requests for each semester, or select the option to be automatically enrolled on your assigned date and time.
There is a Web Registration Tutorial to demonstrate the registration process or read through the simple steps below.
Web Registration
Let the Build My Timetable function do all the work for you!
- Login to your student record with your 9-digit student number and password.
- Go to Web Registration on the left menu.
- Click on the semester you wish to register for in the Fall, Spring or Summer.
- Scroll down the next page and click on the Build my Timetable button.
- On the next page enter the names and numbers of all the courses you would like to enrol in, for example: ENGL 115, MATH 111, PSYC 112, etc. You can also search for and select your courses from the Search Subject Area drop-down list.
- At the top of this page you can also indicate any time constraints you may have (i.e., no classes after 4 pm), or which campus you want to attend.
- When you're ready, click on the Build me a Timetable with these courses button.
- On the next page you will see up to 20 different timetable variations of a weekly schedule using the courses you have chosen. You will be able to see which ones are in conflict or full, and all schedule details. The best options will usually be at the top of the list.
- Choose the timetable option that you prefer and click on the Register me in these courses button to be instantly enrolled or waitlisted in all your course selections if it is after your registration date and time. If you are planning your timetable prior to your date and time to register, the Submit Changes button will say Save these courses in my plan instead.
- At this point you can also click the "Automatically register me in these courses on your date and time." We highly recommend you choose this option.
- Always remember to click on the Submit Changes or Save this Plan button before exiting Web Registration in order to save your changes or register in your selected classes. If you exit without taking this step you will lose your draft schedule.
- If you have saved your plan in advance of your registration date and time, you will not be registered or waitlisted until you click on the Submit Changes button in each semester. You can also choose to be automatically enrolled on your assigned date and time by clicking the box for that option. Remember to do this for both semesters.
- Make sure you select your courses and register for BOTH Fall and Spring semesters at the same time. The earlier you register, the better your chances are of getting into the classes you want.
- For a step by step demonstration of the above, see the Web Registration Tutorial.
You can also use web registration functions to:
Search for courses
You can search for specific courses or types of courses (i.e., 2nd year Geography). As you build your timetable, you can search for courses that fit your schedule, and you can view your weekly schedule. You'll see if any seats are open and can check the waitlist if the course is full.
Plan ahead
You can plan your timetable in advance and save it, then check back closer to your registration appointment date to see how much space is left in the classes you've chosen. You can make as many changes to your draft timetable as you want. A new option allows you to be automatically registered in all the classes in your plan when your registration date and time rolls around. You can still do this manually by logging in and clicking on the Submit Changes button in each semester. Either way, you will not be registered or waitlisted for your classes until you do this final step manually, or have the system do it for you, for all the upcoming semesters.
Note that if you have mapped out and saved your schedule well in advance of your registration date and time, it is a good idea to check the plan close to the time you are able to register in case some of your classes are now full. This will give you the chance to adjust your schedule if needed before you are actually registered. The closer to your actual registration date and time that you register in classes, the better your chances are of getting a seat.
Make adjustments
After you've registered, even if you didn't use web registration initially, you can still go to your student record to add or drop courses, claim seats that have become available to you from the waitlist, view or print out your schedule, and pay your fees online. Web Registration is available from 1:30 am until 11:30 pm every day, and your student record is always available to you.
Once you've registered, view and adjust your course schedule using the Course Enrolment History link in your online student record under the Academics link. This allows you to see both semesters at the same time, and is where all your grades will be shown at the end of the semester.
Important note: Always use the navigational buttons within the screens that are part of the Web Registration System. Using the "Back" or "Forward" buttons on your web browser may cause important information to go unprocessed.
