For successful refund requests, Vancouver Island University (VIU) has partnered with PayMyTuition to provide refunds to our students.
The steps below outline our domestic refund process with PayMyTuition, and how your refund will be deposited to your bank account once VIU has finalized processing your refund.
- Email refund request to registration@viu.ca.
- Registration will complete a refund request form and forward for processing to Student Financial Services.
- Student Financial Services will process refund requests as they are received and will send a listing to PayMyTuition weekly.
- PayMyTuition (studentrefunds@paymytuition.com) will inform you that your Interac e-transfer email will be issued within the next 2 to 5 business days once VIU has finalized processing your refund.

Shortly after, you will receive a second email from Interac, which will include instructions on how to deposit your funds.
- You can find your one-time passcode by accessing the email sent by VIU. This email will provide instructions on how to access your unique passcode and deposit your funds:

- Once you have obtained your one-time passcode, return to the Interac e-Transfer email communication to select the Deposit your Money or Select a different financial institution button:

Once you receive the Interac e-transfer email communication, you may choose to deposit the funds into someone else’s bank account so long as you have access to their online banking.
- Log in to your financial institution’s portal and enter the passcode you obtained from Vancouver Island University. Your funds will be visible in your bank account instantly.
Note: The interac e-transfer email containing your money link will be sent to the personal email that is on your student record. If you require this to be updated, please do so before requesting your refund.
